Cigarettes After Sexual activity is an American dream pop band formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008 by Greg Gonzalez. The ring is known for their ethereal, limerent and often dream-like musical style, lyrics often based on the themes of romance and dear, as well as Gonzalez's vocalism, which has been described as "androgynous".[7] While marketed as an ambient pop band, Cigarettes Afterwards Sex are also considered to be shoegaze, slowcore and indie rock.
The band'due south debut extended play (EP), I., was released in 2012, with the vocal "Nil's Gonna Hurt Y'all Baby" eventually condign a sleeper striking through commercial licensing. Later the release of the standalone single "Affection" in 2015, the band released their self-titled debut studio anthology in June 2017 to positive reviews. The band's second studio album, Cry, was released on Oct 25, 2019.

Cigarettes Later on Sex was formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008.[8] [9] [7] Gonzalez recorded the commencement EP, I., in a iv-story stairway at his alma mater, Academy of Texas at El Paso, calling the feel "basically an accident; kind of an experiment".[7]
Gonzalez relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where the band's unmarried "Amore" was recorded and released in 2015 along with a encompass of REO Speedwagon'south "Keep On Loving You lot".[10] [11]
Through music recommendations, Cigarettes Later Sex became popular on YouTube, leading to live performances across Europe, Asia, and the U.s.a.. The band then released their self-titled debut studio album on June ix, 2017.[12] [7] [13]
In August 2019 the band announced their 2nd studio album, titled Weep, forth with the single "Heavenly". The album was released on October 25, 2019.
"Falling in Honey" took two years to write, after Gonzalez met his electric current girlfriend, Nour Petite. "I wrote the chorus in the middle of a bunch of tours, very far from love or real relationships, and trying to write that song would've felt dishonest. By the time nosotros got into the studio, I was seeing my current girlfriend and wrote from a real perspective," Gonzalez pauses before continuing. "It felt very strange, in a way, to finally have that."[ citation needed ]
